MODUS Coaching
About Me
Personal introduction
Hi, my name is Gianluca.
I am a lot of things, but in a nutshell, I’m a coach, a former nurse, an all-around nerd, a professional ADHDer, and an insatiably curious sponge.
I strongly believe that understanding what's around us can positively inform our future choices. Knowing why we do what we do, or why we sometimes make our lives unnecessarily difficult, is the best starting point for improvement.
Professional background
I started my career in healthcare as a nurse, working in many clinical areas before settling into critical care and theatres. This is where the journey that led me here began, as mental health was something the organisations I worked for were ill-equipped to manage, and that really stuck with me.
I burned out during COVID and moved into the corporate world as a result, working in healthcare technology. Here, I experienced a completely different set of challenges, while also receiving my ADHD diagnosis.
Along the way, I developed a growing interest in psychology, human behaviour, and what actually helps people make meaningful changes in their lives. That curiosity first led me to counselling, but I discovered that my real interest lay in coaching.
Qualifications
I've picked up a few qualifications along the way, some more relevant to coaching than others.
- University degree in nursing.
- Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills.
- Coaching training through a year-long programme.
- Training in project management and Agile methodologies.
- Currently working towards professional accreditation with the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
I'm also a firm believer that learning shouldn't stop when you receive a certificate, so I'm constantly exploring psychology, neuroscience, and behavioural science.
Coaching approach
My coaching approach is rooted in the ICF model and draws on psychology, neuroscience, and behavioural science.
I work mostly with neurodivergent clients, or people who identify as such, and I've learned from personal experience that knowledge and acceptance are two extremely important elements of meaningful change. When appropriate, I include small nuggets of knowledge in my coaching, temporarily shifting from coach to teacher.
I don't believe in silver bullets, motivational speeches, or life hacks. What I believe in is curiosity, honest conversations, and understanding what's going on beneath the surface.
We'll explore how you think, what matters to you, what's getting in your way, and what you might want to do differently.
